What Causes Dry Eye Syndrome?
There are several different factors that cause dry eye syndrome…age, gender, medications, medical conditions, environmental conditions and other factors such as LASIK. Symptoms of dry eye syndrome include:
- Pain in the eyes
- Dryness
- Eye discomfort
- Feeling of something in the eye
- Redness
- Sensitivity to light
How Does IPL Help With Dry Eye Syndrome?
IPL(Intense Pulsed Light) works for MGD(Meibomian Gland Dysfunction). IPL, when applied strategically to the eye area, can lessen inflammation. The gentle deep penetrating heat can help clear clogged glands.
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
A thin layer of ultrasound gel is applied to the eye area. You will feel a warm sensation as the light pulses. Treatment only takes a few minutes per eye. This is a no downtime and low-risk treatment.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
We recommend 6-10 treatments approximately 3-4 weeks apart. Most patients will need to maintain results by doing a treatment every 6 to 12 months.
