Where Does The Fat Go After My CoolSculpting® Session?
CoolSculpting® freezes fat cells in the target areas. The crystallized cells die and the body removes them through the lymphatic system, as it does with other waste products. Although the fat cells are destroyed, it takes weeks for the body to fully remove them from the body and for your skin and support tissues to slim down to their new contours. Your results keep improving for up to six months as the body removes the dead fat cells.
Is CoolSculpting® Safe?
CoolSculpting® has been performed over 6 million times around the world, and it has proven to be a safe procedure. The FDA cleared CoolSculpting® in 2010. Unlike liposuction, the procedure doesn’t involve incisions, insertion of a cannula, or anesthesia. It is completely non-invasive.
What Are The Risks With CoolSculpting®?
As mentioned above, CoolSculpting® is a popular, safe, non-invasive method of fat reduction. Compared with liposuction or surgeries such as tummy tucks, risks are dramatically lower and there are few side effects. That being said, CoolSculpting® cannot replace liposuction or tummy tuck surgery as the results will not be the same.
Patients feel a pinching sensation and pull on the skin, that is followed by intense cooling that passes as the skin in the area becomes numb. It is normal for patients to experience some numbness or loss of sensation in the treatment area for up to a month.

How Many Sessions Will I Need Before I See Results?
This depends on your individual goals. Many patients are satisfied with their reduction in a treatment area after a single CoolSculpting® session. Others opt to have two treatments on an area such as the abdomen, where more fat tends to accumulate. The amount of fat reduction can reduce with repeated treatments, but fat cells will still be destroyed and removed. What you need to consider is if you have “pinchable” fat in the treatment area. If so, there isn’t a set limit for these procedures.
